This program is designed to meet the growing demand for veterinary technicians to become competent ultrasound imagers. This course will prepare technicians to acquire the standard images and measurements necessary for a diagnostic cardiac and soft tissue ultrasound. Competence in diagnostic image acquisition when used in combination with a tele- medicine service or a veterinarian with expertise in ultrasound interpretation will facilitate incorporation of diagnostic ultrasound imaging into a veterinary practice. Competence in image/study interpretation will not be covered in this program. To complete this program technicians must have access to a digital ultrasound machine with color and spectral Doppler capability as well as be able to save and export still images and cine loops in DICOM format. This four-week program is comprised of four one-week sessions spanning 12 months.
Following successful completion of both the echocardiography and soft tissue and cardiac components of this program, attendees will receive a Small Animal Veterinary Technician Soft Tissue Ultrasound Imaging Certificate of Completion and a Small Animal Veterinary Technician Echocardiographic Imaging Certificate of Completion respectively. Attendance alone will not result in certificates. Attendees will receive 35 hours of RACE approved CE for each week completed.
